Jacques Muhammad, Esq., is an attorney, author, and lifelong community advocate whose journey from Haiti to Southeast Queens reflects an unwavering commitment to service, justice, and youth empowerment. With over three decades dedicated to uplifting young people, his work stands as a testament to purpose-driven leadership.
A proud graduate of New York City public schools, Jacques earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with honors from Morehouse College and a Juris Doctor from the CUNY School of Law at Queens College. He began his legal career in criminal law with the New York City Department of Correction, later transitioning to civil litigation as a Supervising Attorney at Travelers Insurance. Today, he is a founding partner of Léandre Massena & Vessup Law Group, where he specializes in Election Law. He also serves as Chief of Staff for Local 372-DC37, representing more than 24,000 municipal employees.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jacques remains deeply invested in community development. As President of the Rosedale Jets Football and Cheer Association, he transformed the local football team into a nationally recognized youth development organization. A former player and two-time Super Bowl champion with the Rosedale Jets (1980 and 1981), Jacques draws from his lived experience to write with authenticity and compassion. His debut book is inspired by decades of mentorship and aims to help young readers confront challenges such as fear, identity, and self-worth.
A pivotal moment in his life came at the 1995 Million Man March, where he committed to returning home to enrich the lives of others. His continued dedication has earned him honors and citations from every level of government for his leadership and service.
Jacques has been married to his wife, Christela, since 1998. Together, they are the proud parents of Asia and Jacques III, and reside in Rosedale, New York.
